Home Sweet Home

 I LOVE HOME!!

So excited about the weekend in Dalhart. The excitement I feel when I get to go home and spend some time never goes away!! Home is made me who I am today. My parents, my grandparents and growing up on a ranch in the middle of nowhere made me who I am. So glad I am able to share all of that with Garrett!!

We are so excited for our wedding shower this weekend and spending time with family and friends!

You will be updated next week on the wonderful weekend!!

Have a blessed weekend!
Love, Whit

What a Wonderful Weekend!!

1. I LOVE SURPRISES!!

Garrett suprised me on Friday and decided to head to Canyon to see me. He wasn't supposed to get to come North but things worked out and I didn't have to go a weekend without seeing him...aren't we ridiculous!! Love spending time with this man...lets hope so though because in 61 days he is stuck with me!

2. Sister time is the best thing in the World!

Rebecca came into town this weekend and we got to do a little shopping before heading over to Aaron's wedding.

3. I have a new Fashion Consultant in my life.

I never realized I was going to be married to a fashion consultant until this weekend. lol. Garrett was such a trooper and tagged along shopping with Rebecca and I. We had several different shops we wanted to go into to look for some dresses for various wedding activities. At every store he was patiently waiting outside to let me know if he liked the dress or not..hehe! Mostly you could tell by the look on his face when he was trying to be nice about it...I love this man! So in the future...if I am wanting to try some new styles...I think I will leave Garrett at home..lol!!

4. Saturday ended with Aaron and Anne's beautiful wedding. So fun to see college friends and hang out with Rebecca and Lance. And of course it is always fun to get to do some dancing!

My handsome date.

66 DAYS TO GO!!!!

Wedding, Wedding, Wedding. That has been on my mind alot lately. Can't imagine why....we only have 66 days to go! And for that I am beyond excited. But anyone who knows me well at all can probably guess by this point that I am starting to stress just a little. I know people say not to stress, it will all be great, but once again you know me and I just can't seem to do that!! With that being said, I have enjoyed every minute of this engagement. Garrett has been amazing and wants to be involved with every aspect of things from registering to making little decisions and I will cherish that forever!

As far as plans go, things are going great as far as I know! Trying to make a list of all the little things that I have forgotten. The girls dresses came took only about 2 weeks to come in, which was exciting, but that makes me even more anxious to get mine in. I am so ready to see it again!!!

Garrett and I will go next week to pick out tuxedos for the guys so we can get them looking spiffy!!

My vision for the reception is coming to place and that makes me so excited. I always told my mom and dad that I would be different them my sisters because I am way more opinionated and not as laid back as Rebecca and Allie but I think I have done a good job!! (Although, mom might tell you differently)

As far as wedding plans go, I don't think I have much more to share. More to come soon.

Hope everyone has a blessed rest of the week!! Happy Wednesday!

Dad....Father...Popo

What a great many boots this man fills!  He is the best father, we three girls could asked to be raised by along with my amazing mother. As a father he has set an example for us in many ways. He is the rock and the spiritual leader in our family...the one we go to when we need an unbiased opinion ( I mean with 4 other women in the house can you imagine us needing an unbiased unemotion opinion)...the one we go to when scripture is confusing or hard to understand or when we don't understand why life happens the way it does...he has also set the bar for our husbands very high. Both my sisters have found amazing men of God and after August I will add one more. How lucky are we!! As a dad, his lap was always open and there is no telling how many times each of us crawled up into his lap (even to this day) for a good cry or a heart to heart. Many of hours has been spent on horseback or driving around the ranch in the pickup talking about life or learning life lessons from the ranch way of life. For that I am truly thankful!! As of 4 1/2 years ago I have seen him take on another set of boots and that is the boots of a grandpa aka Popo. He has jumped into this role with both feet and I Praise the Lord each and every day that my neices and nephews and God willing one day Garrett and I's kids will have such a great role model to look up to like I did!!

I know this is a day late but Happy Fathers Day to all the amazing dads out there!! I have been blessed in my life to have many amazing men in my life from Grandpa's (which I have been blessed with two of the best) to uncles and cousins and many many others!!

Hope everyone has a blessed week!!

The Man of My Dreams

All my life I have prayed for the man that God had for me. On July 18, 2011 at the state meeting for Ag Agents, I saw him for the first time. I didn't know right away that I would marry him but I did notice one thing...you know how you can tell by looking at someone that they are just a great person. That was what I saw in this redheaded man wearing a purple shirt. The next morning, all the young agents had a meeting together and Garrett was one of the ones running the meeting. According to him, he made sure we went around the room to introduce ourselves so he could get my name. Not sure why...he didn't talk to me all the rest of the week :)

On July 18, 2011, their eyes locked from across the room...oh wait that is not exactly how it happened. Here is how it really happened. Monday was the start of the TCAAA Conference in Wichita Falls. Being one of the few girls at the conference, I stood out like a sore thumb. I remember seeing Garrett across the room in a purple shirt and tie and thinking to myself, man he is pretty cute. The next morning we were in a new agents meeting together, Garrett was one of the people running the meeting and made sure all of us introduced ourselves. Come to find out later he did this so he could get my name. I would see him from time to time during the meeting but always admired from afar.

About a week later, still thinking about him, I added him on Facebook. Thank goodness for technology!! Now here is where Allison thinks she plays a role. Apparently she was stalking me and saw Garrett’s picture, so she felt the need to stalk him. A few minutes later I get a message from Allison saying, “Who is this Garrett guy?? And why aren’t you dating??” She then proceeds to tell me all that she found out and that he is even Methodist…lol!! I messaged him that day just telling him it was nice to meet him and asking how things were in his county? I thought it would totally look like casual conversation if I asked about work ;)

From there started our journey. In August, after a month of talking on the computer led to our first time to talk on the phone which lasted from 9pm to 7 am the next morning. Needless to say at that point, I knew he was pretty darn special. A couple of weeks later we had our first date in Lubbock and it has pretty much been happily ever after since. We survived our first stock show season together of seeing each other all the time, us being exhausted, and me being stressed for about two months. We loved every minute of it.

Seven months later he proposed and I love him more every day we are together. We are so excited for the rest of our life and we are both so blessed to be marrying into such amazing families.

God brought me an amazing man! He is everything I was looking for in a husband and more. Good thing I made that checklist because with him, I get to put a check next to all the requirements and anyone who knows me knows how long that list was! I thank God every day for my fiance Garrett. I am so excited for August 25 and our married chapter to begin.
Who couldn't love this sweet face!!

Wedding Plan updates soon!

Just Like My Sisters!!

Now who says I don't want to be just like my sister. They have blogs, so of course I want one too! Just kidding just kidding.

As many of you may know I am about to start a new chapter in my life and I want to be able to look back and remember all the fun details (that is right...they are all fun...or that is what I keep telling myself when I get stressed with plans.)

So the purpose of my blog is probably not going to be to entertain everyone but to keep you updated on wedding plans and married life after Aug. 25 and maybe to share some of my photography!

Hope you enjoy The Great Tales of the Gilliam
